"The Mūlādhāra chakra, which lies between the anus and the genitals, is of a triangular shape.
The Svādhishthāna chakra, which is hexagonal, lies at the root of the genitals.
The wheel set up at the navel is ten-sided and is called the Manipūra chakra.
The great twelve-sided wheel located at the heart is called the Anāhata chakra.
Inside the throat cavity there lays a wheel of sixteen sides called the Vishuddhi (purity).
Ājnā (command), which lies between the eyebrows and has two petals, is the highest of the wheels.
At the top of the head (the Brahman Gate) there are one thousand petals (the Sahasrāra chakra)."
~Yoga-shikkā Upanishad
