About Mandala Books

For over two decades, Mandala Books of California continued to hone their burgeoning inventory. With timely input from generous, erudite customers, we eliminated an excess of darker, non-essential books and added many rare manuscripts not usually found even in specialty shops. We have had the honor of presenting the highest caliber of speaker/guests, including:

On March 26, 1995, The Vajrayana Foundation and Mandala Books presented An Afternoon of Dharma & Classical Indian Music. The late Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, a Dzogchen (Great Perfection) master of Vajrayana Buddhism with classical Eastern Raga by the late Sitar master and renowned artist Rahul Sariputra (right).

Hosted by the Palo Alto Dharmadhatu and Mandala Books, the Venerable Khandro Rinpoche (left) spoke on the subject Meditation in the Modern World. At the age of two, Rinpoche was recognized by the 16th Karmapa as the re-incarnation of the Great Dakini of Tsurphu, Khandro Ugyen Tsomo.

Mandala Books and her customers were truly blessed to have the weekly presence of Master Kabbalist Rabbi Steven Fisdel (The Practice of Kabbalah). Rabbi Fisdel taught workshops on the history, development and practice of Kabbalah. Available for consultation, Steve is the only Tarot Reading Rabbi in the known world.

The Palo Alto Dharmadhatu were granted free access to the book shop for their weekly meditation. It was open to the public and innocent customers were encouraged (proselytized?) to participate. Our thanks to David, Ellen, Henry et al for bringing such a calming influence to Mountain View.
