Publisher's Synopsis
Buddha Mind, recently reissued by Snow Lion as The Practice of Dzogchen, is an anthology of writings on Dzogpa Chenpo (Dzogchen) by Longchen Rabjam (1308-1363), the most celebrated writer and adept of the Nyingmapa School of Tibetan Buddhism. Dzogpa Chenpo is the innermost esoteric philosophy and meditation training, which until recent decades was only whispered into the ears of heart-disciples by the learned masters.

Dzogpa Chenpo employs a meditative technique which effortlessly uncovers the emotional and intellectual layers of the mind and instantly awakens its essential nature, which is Buddha Mind or Buddhahood itself.

Reviews
"This is one of the most significant works on Tibetan Buddhism to be published in recent years, treating with grace, beauty and depth a most important subject, namely the character of the Dzogchen tradition and its placement within the overall structure of the Nyingma doctrine and training. An understanding of Dzogchen will benefit any philosophical or religious study of Tibetan Buddhism. This is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive works on the Nyingma to appear in English."       ~Glenn Mullin

Excerpt
"Pure contemplation is (as follows): although it is a meditation on the skillful means of compassion and on the wisdom free from extremes, it has no conceptualization of subject and object and there is no meditation designating 'in this state.' So it relates to the inconceivable nature. Although in this contemplation one achieves joy, bliss, miracles, and foreknowledge, there will not be attachment to the pleasure of it, nor are they apprehended in characteristic form."
