Publisher's Synopsis

It draws from the Egyptian and early Greek philosophies and links their techniques to the myths that surround particular stars or constellations. This combination allows astrologers to reconnect with these older procedures and then apply the original myths or concepts to modern charts. In doing so this book opens a doorway into the field of fixed stars, where a major star in a person's chart indicates the stage of life in which it is active, via the Egyptian and Greek methods. It can also indicate the person's life journey via the mythology it represents.

For the first time, this book offers astrologers:

  • Paran Maps and Star Phases for over 60 stars
  • New insights into the natal use of fixed stars, as well as their use in mundane astrology
  • Extensive appendices of Heliacal Rising and Acronychal Setting graphs and tables so that, for any given location, the dates of these risings and settings can be found
  • A list of 176 stars with their 21st century Ptolemaic processed positions versus their commonly-considered positions based on Ulugh Beg's methods

"Fixed-Star enthusiasts will undoubtedly be thrilled at the publication of this book, the first substantive work about fixed stars to appear in 20 years; sixty-four fixed stars are featured in Australian astrologer Bernadette Brady's book.

The author provides the reader not only with each star's meaning in the natal chart, but also its astronomical data (magnitude, longitude, declination, right ascension, etc.), its meaning as a heliacal rising star at birth, earlier interpretative opinions (as expressed by Robson, Rigor and Ebertin-Hoffman), the myth and history of the constellation in which it's found, and examples of famous persons having that fixed star in their birth charts. If not circumpolar, a star's paran map is also included.

Brady devotes separate sections in her book to the concept of star phases (something which, according to the author, has not been utilized by astrologers for nearly 2000 years) and to the predictive use of fixed stars.

There is also a section in which the author provides fixed star interpretations of celebrity charts. Extensive appendices of heliacal rising and acronychal setting graphs and tables are also included to help astrologers find rising or setting dates for any location.

This book, needless to say, is a hefty and information-filled one, and its author can be credited with providing new insights into both the natal and mundane use of fixed stars. Intermediate to expert level astrologers will undoubtedly find it stimulating and rewarding to read."        ~Horoscope Guide
